Open Hands

At Open Hands Trust, we value every life. We are privileged to show the love and compassion of Christ to some of the most vulnerable people in our city with Isaiah ch58 vs6-12 very much being our heartbeat.We have a fantastic team of volunteers who serve with love and passion in the Compassion Centre sessions, meal and all of our projects. Each person we meet is welcomed and treated as if they are royalty.

	Provides hampers of food, new baby supplies and new home essentials. We welcome donations of food, toiletries or baby supplies.
	Emerge is a course to help build women’s self esteem, confidence and improve life choices.
	Courses created to help asylum seekers gain life skills and personal development, including English Language and cookery.
	Donated furniture given out free of charge and restoration workshop. Please contact us if you have furniture to donate.
	Community Carers is Open Hands on the street, seeking to be a good neighbour, a listening ear, a helping hand in the local area.
	Works with women contacted enhancing their creative skills by helping them produce beautiful and uniquely made products.
	A foundation that offers, through practical gifts and help, love and kindness to vulnerable women.
	The Trust is governed by a group of skilled and experienced Trustees and staff.

The Storehouse

The Storehouse is part of the Open Hands Trust and provides hampers to people who find themselves in difficult circumstances. Partners, such as Action Homeless, Red Cross, and Leicester City council recommend people who may need one of the following hampers:

A Food Hamper – containing various food items such as tinned vegetables, fruit, tuna, soup, oil, rice or pasta, tea, sugar, milk and a some special treats.
A New Home Hamper – particularly for people who have moved into new accommodation from hostels, prison or have been sleeping rough. The hamper contains basic toiletries and cleaning products etc.
A New Baby Hamper – baby clothes and basic toiletries for vulnerable new mums and their babies.

The hampers are delivered to the people on Wednesday and Friday mornings, or can be collected through arrangement.

Open Hands Unit

A converted garage at the corner of Upper Tichborne Street and Highfields Street, now our Compassion Unit where people can be referred by organisations if they are in need of clothes and household items, or where anyone is welcome for a free hot drink, toast and friendship.

The Unit is open:
Tuesdays 10am-12pm – ‘Just for Women’
The session offers a free cafe, friendship and craft activities as well as clothes, shoes, baby clothes/equipment and household items.

Thursdays 10am -12pm – Open session for all
This session offers a free cafe and friendship to everyone.
Secondhand clothes, shoes and household items are available to guests who visit the unit through a referral from an organisation.

Referrals can be made by a headed letter, through email, telephone or by bringing a person to the unit.

Open Hands Furniture

Furniture donations are collected, stored in our warehouse and delivered to those in need free of charge. To donate or for further information please telephone (0116) 2558672 or email sue.smout@openhandsleicester.org.uk

Open Hands Meal

A hot meal offered to anyone who needs it, including a vegetarian option.

Tuesday Evenings 7-8pm
At The Open Hands Unit, on the corner of Upper Tichborne Street and Highfields Street.
