The Royal Wedding
Tuesday, 19 April 2011
We are having a street party for the Royal Wedding on our street. To be honest, David and I were considering planning one as a community gesture, but were really relieved when the invitation came from another family on the street. Now we can join in and not shoulder the responsibility for a change!
I don’t know how you feel about the upcoming nuptials between William and Kate? Opinion seems to be divided.
The whole thing, for me, brings back memories of our son Tom’s wedding to Philippa last July…

I wonder whether I will spot the same looks as I saw in the faces of family on that day when I watch the royal wedding on 29th April…there was Tom’s look as Phil came down the aisle…absolute joy! Philippa’s look to him…radiant happiness. Brian, her dad’s look…complete glowing pride in his beautiful daughter and her new husband.
Have you ever caught a glimpse at a look between two people who love one another deeply? David and I remember the moment we first met. I was on my lunch break from teaching in a school on the outskirts of Nottingham and he popped in to see me to arrange a visit to my church. We both remember “the look”…a look that meant that from that moment our lives would never be the same again.
I read an amazing verse yesterday in the Song of Songs:
You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride; you have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes…
SOS 4:9
What an incredible and beautiful thought that one glance at the Father and we steal his heart.
Look at him today. He will run to you…you have his heart. He loves you with the fierce intensity of a lover.
Whatever you are doing now, join me in stopping for a moment and glancing up into his face.
I guarantee that once you start, you can’t stop, you won’t be able to stop staring and exchanging looks. Try it an see!
Oh, and enjoy the Royal Wedding…one day you’ll be part of one of those, exchanging looks with the Bridegroom and enjoying the unwavering pride and approval of your Father.
Happy days,
Susan x
