Roger’s Story
A phrase was once said to me about a Christian’s testimony, “Why would they lie?” My story starts with my life before I met Jesus. I had always thought that religion was something that people fall on when they need it. I was a strong atheist and had no religious upbringing at all. My interest had dug deep into science, which held all the answers for me, and which led to me having a firm opinion that there was no need for religion, no God, no heaven, just nothing at all.
I believed that where we are now, this is just it; there was no reason for it at all. I was happy to live on like this, living life with good morals and respecting others for their own opinion was the important way to live the good life. However, I felt there was no peace in my heart and when numerous challenges came along in my life I always found it hard to forgive Therefore I never had that inner peace that I wanted to have to become truly happy.
I had many questions and, for once, science was not able to give me the answers, neither could the advice from family nor friends help me with this burden. So one day I turned up at a local church. I listened to a message from the Bible and it changed my heart. Jesus said in Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, Seek, Knock”, and as I did my answers were given.
I had found Jesus Christ and the doors of a relationship with him opened to me. Since then I have found peace through my faith and I now feel so much happier, that this is truly real. Anyway – why would I lie?
